Ms. January
I never had Ella's 15 month picture professionally taken, so I decided to get out my camera and backdrop (black wool coat) and take one myself. The snow kind of has thrown a wrench in a lot of things we had planned to do this month, but I guess better late than never. Oh, and Ella will be 16 months in two days, so consider this a two for one update.

Snowed In
We knew it was coming. Every report indicated we would be hit sometime Sunday into Monday with over a foot of snow. I went to the grocery store and stockpiled the food, even started cooking on Sunday to get ready. We hunkered down and just waited, and as predicted it hit. We woke up Monday to over a foot of snow, with it continuing to pour out of the sky all day. It was beautiful and fun to witness- none of us have every seen as much snow in our lives.
The first day the snow was just powder- impossible to sled or pack for building a snowman. So the first day or so was mainly spend playing dress-up, doing arts and crafts and watching movies. No one complained. I think we all spend a few days in pajamas. Day two and three the snow was perfect! Tommy built an awesome ramp and we all went sledding and built a huge snowman.
Ella did not get out too much, we mainly went out when she was down for a nap. It was really hard to walk in- in fact, Carson was having a really hard time because the snow was up over his knees. So as you can imagine, carrying Ella while holding two other hands would have been impossible.

She did not miss out completely, Tommy and I took her down the hill a few times. Her expression never changed- I am guessing princess is going to be hard to impress if flying down a snow covered hill at 20 miles an hour doesn't thrill her.
We finally were able to build our snowman, the actual construction required Tommy's help. Each ball of the man weighed about 300 pounds (according to Tommy's estimation). The result was worth all the effort.

The boy's hit the slope a few more times over the week. Ella sometimes missed out but watched from the window.

Thank goodness I went crazy and had an all day soup-a- thon cooking day before the weather struck. I could not guess at how many bowls Tommy and I have eaten.

Watching the snow and playing with each other. We survived the week and had a really good time. Glad the roads are almost clear and very ready for school to start back. Spring seems really far off to me, maybe it is because there will be a 8 foot snowman in our back yard until probably March.
Mixed in with playing in the snow were artists painting beautiful pictures.....
Making great snow angles...
Taking tons of pictures of our house and the snow...
...and baking (and eating lots of food).
