Scare At The Square 2008

We decided to meet up with some of our good friends to attend Knoxville's first annual "Scare At The Square" this year instead of trick or treating around the neighborhood. Since it was the first year of sponsoring this event, we were not sure what to expect, but ended up having a wonderful time. All of the restaurants were open downtown in Market Square and vendors were handing out treats. A band also played live music- which Tyler LOVED since the harmonica was one of their key instruments. We loved looking at all the costumes and just walking around.

Our friends Michael, Shannon, Lydia and new baby Eli and Michael, Wendy, Ruby and Wyatt.

After posing for pictures with our friends and all of our children, we all parked it in front of the band and I discovered Tyler's harmonica in my purse. He played along beside us and before we knew it he took off to go onstage. In case there was ever a doubt, Tyler is not shy nor does he have any opposition to performing for a large audience.

The pirate and the skunk posing for pictures.

The best part of the night was when the band announced that they would be having a kids costume contest. Just for kicks, I took Carson up on stage to show off his skunk costume and he won!!! He actually won "overall best costume" out of over fifty kids. My friend Wendy had her video camera and was filming some of the contest- she is going to go home and see if she was able to capture the win- I will post it asap if she has it.

Recognize a certain pirate on stage playing with the band?

Rub A Dub Dub, Two Brothers In A Tub...

And bath time as we knew it will never be the same. We decided last night to double team Tyler and Carson's baths and little did we know that a 10 minute ritual would turn into 30 minutes of playtime. They LOVED it!!! Tyler has never had a water stage to perform on, and his audience ate up every minute of his bit. "Carson, watch this!", seemed to be the line of the night. Carson has been properly introduced to water play. As Tommy and I were sitting back watching them laugh and play and truly enjoy each others presence, Tommy announced, "And this is why he needed a brother- this is what it is all about!"

Ice Cream Sunday

I just snapped this shot of Tommy and Tyler enjoying a little treat on this gorgeous Sunday afternoon. I myself just woke up from a long nap and Tommy just took the boys to the playground while I read my Southern Living magazine. Ever heard of a perfect day?

The Pirate And The Skunk Meet

We don't usually dress up in costumes and take 1,000 pictures around the house- usually. Last night we took the boys to "Boo At The Zoo" and met up with my sister's family. All the kids had a great time as usual. Tyler will also be dressing up for his preschool class and we might be trick or treating in our neighborhood...so don't be too suprised if this is not the last you see of the pirate his his smelly sidekick.

Pumpkin Carving With Grandma

Last weekend Tommy's parents came to visit. We celebrated Tommy's birthday that night and the boys got to play with their grandma and grandpa all day. Tyler really enjoyed wrestling in the floor and being pushed in the swing by his grandpa and pumpkin carving with grandma. Oddly enough, after helping crape out 1/2 the seeds- he was done...leaving the professional carving to me and Marsha. I will spare the readers with a picture of the finished product.

High Tech Canvas

Tyler loves the SmartBoard in Tommy's classroom. He told us that this piece of artwork was to be called "Jellyfish".

Busted!

For quite some time now we have suspected Carson could sit up, but we had yet to catch him. I was starting to get concerned that I was toting him around all day (not that 15 hours a day is too much) and not allowing him enough floor time to develop muscles. A few hours ago Carson was on on floor playing and I guess I walked down the hall too quietly and caught him red handed. The best part was right after I took this picture, he flops on his side like a spineless jellyfish and throws his hand helplessly up in the air for me to pick him up. This one I am going to have to watch...

He Takes Tips And Will Be Here All Night...

The post below is the shot I was after (minus the drool all over Carson's outfit), but I thought I would share the shots I had to take before, during and after. Two things in case you did not know- first, Tyler is a ham. Second, Carson is a ham. Two hams don't always mean great picture taking. Especially when one of the hams is also a hog and wants to be in EVERY photo. I have tons of pictures of Tyler and my grandmother and so I just wanted a few of Carson and Ma together. Not that easy. Tyler wants to help Carson smile. Carson eats it up and then cannot focus long enough to look at he camera. This is often how our photo sessions turn out, I just don't post them. I hope the two of you clowns entertain each other for the next 80 years!

Ijams Party!

A party was thrown this past Sunday at Ijams Nature Center and take a wild guess who got to attend! Tyler, Carson, G-Ma, my sister and niece and nephew all met up and enjoyed a great night of food and outdoors. The coolest part of the night was that all kinds of toys were literally placed all over the lawn and the kids got to play with giant beach balls and frisbees and Tyler even brought home a wind twirler. If any of my readers are familiar with Knoxville, you would have been loving the entertainment...Tall Paul sang all night!

Tyler and his cousins playing with all the toys on the lawn.
Carson loves on G-Ma.
Tyler trying to touch the one-eyed owl...notice the keepers hand reaching out to stop him.
The crew.

Harvest Time Is Here Again!

This past weekend we headed to Corryington TN to partake in a day of fun with cousins, G-Ma and my sister Becky. Tyler, Carson, Samantha, Daniel, Dawson and Sophia all had a full day of collecting pumpkins, making a trip through the corn maze and mining for gems.
