Where Have I Heard That Before?

We are always reminding Tyler of the need to be a little more quiet when Carson is napping - particularly since we've been staying at my mom's house the last couple of weeks. The child we were so fearful of not learning to talk has found a way to fill the air with words nonstop throughout the day, much of which is repeating the things he hears us say. Earlier tonight:

Tommy: Tyler, you have to keep it down, baby Carson is trying to sleep.
Tyler: Play frog game! Play frog game!
Tommy: No, it's time to get a bath and go to bed.
Tyler: Shhhh Daddy, baby Carson asleep.

Flipping Frogs!

Best game ever! Since staying with my mom, we have been taking advantage of the extra players and getting into games. Move over trivia pursuit...here comes Flipping Frogs.

Game: Big tree with limbs made out of textured rubber-like material. Tree rotates while players try to catapult their respective colored frogs onto the limbs of the tree while in motion. The frogs are also jelly like material and stick well to tree limbs. As the timer goes off the tree limbs fling up, therefore sending the frogs with a flimsy grip sailing through the air. Winner is named by the player that has the most colored frogs still in the branches.

Tyler and I LOVE this game, Tommy- not so much (his frogs never tend to stick as well to the tree, but I am sure this has nothing to do with his jaded attitude to the game). If you have a child under the age of 5 or 55- go directly to your closest WalMart and buy this game.

Catching Up With Old Friends

With most of my girlfriends from high school scattered across the states, it is a real treat to get to hook up with one while we are both in town. A bunch of us (most of which I ran with track/cross country) email weekly if not daily about everything under the sun and I love it. I mean I really love it. Getting reconnected with these girls after marriage, kids, moves, and just life in general has been one of the highlight of this past year. Above is my friend Sharon and her youngest son Judah. Last weekend Carson and I got to meet up in person while catching up and dishing about everyone that could not make it (just kidding ladies). I loved seeing you Sharon and getting to meet Judah- he is a doll! Can't wait for the next "reunion"...Cindy, is it pretty at your lake house in the fall?

Almost 4 Months Old!

Secret City Festival 2008

This year we went to the Oak Ridge Secret City Festival with my sister, her kids Sophia and Dawson, my Aunt Linda and her kids Samantha and Daniel. In other words, ALOT of kids and not many adults. We had a wonderful time and I definitely could not have attended without their help.

Tyler loved the arts and crafts table, the petting zoo and chasing the giant puppet float that spit out bubbles (almost drove my Aunt Linda crazy chasing all the kids behind the float), but Tyler loved it. Can't wait till next year!

Momma's Boy

When Carson was born, Tommy and my mom were in the room and looked over at him and said he looked just like me. It was hard for me to see the resemblance in person, but when I looked at pictures we took of him- I could see it a little also. Today is the first picture I have taken of Carson that gave me chills when it downloaded on the computer. I can actually find photographs of me when I was his age and he looks just like me, rather-the male me. I mean really looks like me. It is going to be fun to watch the boys grow up. Tyler looks like a clone of his daddy, but as he gets older it is clear he has more of my personality. Carson seems to favor me in looks, but is about the most laid back cat you will ever meet.

a country piggy while Tyler tans like his daddy).
I go to sit Carson by Tyler and without even breaking his glance from Curious George on tv, Tyler slings his arm around Carson indicating he had done this photo thing once or twice before.

The Gang

Tyler, Dawson and Sophia are really enjoying living in the same town. Big wheels ride alongs at night, lego building at G-Ma's house, and lots of pool time on hot days. He is going to miss them greatly when we move.

What Did The Spud Do?

I just went into the living room while Tyler was playing and overheard him tell Mr. Potato Head to go to timeout. This is going to be a long summer.

Local Yocals

One of the really neat aspects of living in my hometown for a few weeks is getting to take my children to places that I enjoyed growing up. So far, we have loved going to the pool, the local library for reading events, and to the ball field to watch Tommy and my brother-in-law play ball. Typically, the games end too late for the boys to get to watch and be in bed at a reasonable time since the games are all played in Oak Ridge. However- with our new 10 minute drive across town, we are all taking advantage. And we also just got back from Children's Movie Day at the movie theater- Tyler and Carson's FIRST movie ever and they did awesome! While watching "Bee Movie" Carson slept on me the entire time while Tyler sat contently and stuffed fruit loops and M&M's in his mouth.

Carson missed out on the game due to the heat, but not on the photo op.

Packed Up and Moved Out!

Since it is much easier to stage a house and keep it clean for showings without people living in it...especially two kids under the age of 3, we decided to stay with my mom in Oak Ridge until it sells(or until our next home is ready). I will try to post as much as possible until the final move- so please check back... I would hate to lose my audience during the move!

Must Be Nice

Yes, if you noticed the time- it is after midnight and I am blogging. I guess no one is worried about turning into a pumpkin in this household. Tommy and I were just finishing up watching a movie on tv and had recently fed Carson when I heard snoring. I looked over and while Tommy looked absolutly exhausted, it was Carson who was sleeping about as soundly on his daddy as ever...the irony was too much. I had to capture what really really good sleep looks like.
