Memorial Day 2011

This morning my mom came to spend the day with us. We took a picnic and headed to Franklin NC to their water playground and green way walking trail. After eating the kids all played in the water fountains forever and then we all took a walk along the river. Tyler rode his bike while Carson rode his Plasma car. The day in Franklin ended with a trip to Dairy Queen for dip cones and blizzards. Momma and I then drove around and went to a farmer's stand while Tommy took the kids home. After eating dinner, mom and I then went on a evening walk to the river. Awesome visit.

Read All About It!

It is not like I would post it on Facebook- but since the blog is a little more personal and we are very selective of who we share the address with, I feel like it will not come across as complete bragging...but rather as sharing a proud moment with those we love....

We just got the results from Tyler's end of the year reading assessment and he made a 95% on 2nd grade reading level!!!! He has tested well into 2nd grade!!!! Not to shabby for a 5 year old who could not read at all entering kindergarten this year.

I am so proud. I feel like all of these years of reading to him every day have paid off in the best way possible, a true love for reading and a solid word base. I will try to never post anything like this again and it is quite possible Tommy might make me remove this post when he sees it. In the meantime- picture me with a big bumper sticker on my forehead reading, "I am the proud parent of a proficient reader!"

Pet Pig

Not the best picture quality, they were taken with Tommy's phone- but we met some friends at the playground yesterday and saw not your typical pet being walking on a leash. Ella was crazy about the pig and wanted to keep giving him hugs.

Ten Acre Farm

Last week Tommy went with Tyler on a school field trip to the Ten Acre Strawberry Farm. The kids got to learn all about how strawberries grow and even got to sample a few.

First CSA Pick Up

We were all excited to get the Farmer's Market this morning and rip open our box to see what we got this week. Looks like I will be trying some out some new recipes- I have never cooked with some of the food we brought home! Our box contained fresh: Strawberries, Kale, Bib lettuce, Green onions, Arugula and Radishes...
