If You Are Going To Get Sick, Throw Down In The Bathroom

Tonight Tyler ran into our bedroom while he was supposed to be in his bed going to sleep and declared that he was going to be sick. We put him up on our bed and asked if he was going to throw up. He told us, "No, down." Realizing quickly that this was just the latest in bedtime stalling tactics, Tommy then asked Tyler what hurt. Tyler dramatically grabbed his leg and pointed to his shin. I then asked Tyler if sleeping in our bed would make him feel better and before I could finish my sentence he threw his head down on my pillow and pretended to be asleep. Needless to say, he got to stay for about 30 seconds before returning to his own room, but this medical intervention did seem to help. He did not throw down even once.

31 Weeks And Counting!

I am desperately trying to document this pregnancy at least bi-weekly, especially since I have a feeling this might be Carson's baby book one day. I cannot describe how different this pregnancy has been from the first, especially in the way that I am carrying the baby and the weight gain. Looking back at my first pregnancy, even thought I started alot heavier weight wise- you could definitely tell I was carrying a boy. My face was very full...in fact, my whole body was very full- I carried Tyler around my entire body. With this one, it seems like 90% of my weight is all in my belly. Not that I have not thickened up in other places, but my stomach is so big and heavy that it looks as if someone has literally stuffed a ball under my shirt. I am curious to see what I will look like in the end if I have another 9 weeks to go!

Bounce USA To The Rescue
We have a wonderful kids place in Knoxville called Bounce USA. Basically, it is a giant warehouse of inflatables that you can jump/slide/climb on. It is 100% kid friendly, and virtually impossible to get hurt. Bounce USA rents out the toys for parties, and on the side allows kids and parents to visit during the week and play for hours. We are thinking of having Tyler's next birthday party here if we are still in town. With the weather so cold lately, and cabin fever setting in, Tommy and I took Tyler and a friend of his to play at Bounce USA yesterday. Tyler and Wyatt had a great time, and while I visited with my friend Wendy (Wyatt's mom)- I even caught Tommy sneaking off to shoot basketball in the giant hoops. Fun for the whole family!

Move Over Diane Sawyer...
Everyday conversation in our house seems to revolve around the same topics as of late: The new baby and potty time. Tonight seemed like a good night to get an interview with Tyler on video to share with family and friends. Please excuse the random loss of focus and nose picking, he is has a ways to go before he is ready for prime time.

The King Of Stall....Part II
Since I last blogged, Tyler has found yet another creative way to stall at bedtime. If you remember back, he was asking for water and then had advanced to letting us know he felt like he had gone to the bathroom. We knew it was only going to get more elaborate. This week he has been running in our room hissing like a snake and pointing to his room. Before you sit there wondering what we are reading or letting him watch on tv that would make a 2 1/2 year old think that his room is taken over by snakes, let me explain. Tyler refers to hair as snakes. It started a long time ago when he would take baths that would find a hair floating in the water, I guess he thought it looked like a snake. Anyway, he really does know the difference- but still calls any hair a snake. Tyler has a touch of T.O.C.D (Toddler OCD), as least this is what I describe it as- others might just say he is dramatic. So, as of late- Tommy and I have had to humor him and investigate the "snakes" in his room. Oddly enough, he usually drops it when we sweep his hair out of his eyes.

And The Secret Ingredient Of The Day Is....
With storms in the forecast all day- Tyler, Tommy and I set out for a little family time in the kitchen after he got home from work. I have had my eye on a Paula Dean Apple Cake recipe for a while and today screamed to be the day to make it. After Tyler woke up, Tommy took him in the kitchen to admire what we had all made since Tyler had to take a nap before it was glazed with caramel pecan icing.
Tommy: "Look at the cookie we made (everything sweet is a cookie)."
Tyler: "Poop."
Tommy: "Who pooped?"
Tyler: "The cookie."
Moral of the day: What looks like a culinary delight to some of brown sugar and pecans is another man's poop.
Not one snide comment on how the cake is already half eaten...not one.
